I learned fit the hard way. You do not have to.

I am Andrea Eastin, a designer and educator and the founder of Fair Fit Studio here in Baton Rouge.

I had to learn the secrets of professional fashion design and custom fitting under pressure, on my own. Nobody had the time to explain the why behind the rules. So I built the resource I wished I had back then, and I called it the Fair Fit Method.

Now I get to be that person for you.

My Story

From couture and film sets to a studio in Baton Rouge

Before I taught, I made. I earned my MFA in Fiber and Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, then spent years creating couture collections and sewing for the film industry. Over more than a decade I worked in nearly every corner of the clothing business.

That work showed me something I could not unsee. Mass production has disconnected us from the clothes we wear. We ask where our food comes from and what is in it. We rarely ask the same questions about the shirt on our back.

I founded Fair Fit Studio as my answer to that. It is an individually run studio built on one belief, that learning to sew is a life skill.

It changes how you dress, how you shop and how you see yourself.

The Secrets Between the Seams

I was invited to bring more than a decade of research into our relationship with clothing to the TEDxLSU stage.

The talk looks at the hidden cost of mass-produced fashion, including the 26 billion pounds of clothing that end up in landfills every year. It also looks at how the simple act of making something yourself can change your relationship with everything in your closet.
