My journey with sewing has always been about more than just stitches; it’s about the story a garment can tell. For over ten years, I’ve worked in multiple facets of the clothing business, and I’ve seen firsthand how the mass-production process can disconnect us from the things we wear every day.
I founded Fair Fit Studio right here in Baton Rouge as an answer to that disconnection. It’s an individually run studio built on a simple, powerful belief: learning to sew is a life skill that empowers you to build a more functional, creative, and authentic relationship with your clothing.
I’m passionate about not only creating garments that you love but also teaching you the skills to customize the ones you don’t, transforming your entire wardrobe into a source of confidence and joy.
Many places can teach you to follow a pattern to complete a project. My primary focus is different. Here, we learn the art of garment construction.
My goal is to empower you with the foundational knowledge, skills, and confidence to become an independent creator.
Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a seasoned sewist who feels creatively stuck, my lessons are tailored to your specific goals and growth. We move beyond simply following instructions to understanding the “why” behind the techniques. This is where you develop a true design practice and learn to express your unique personal style through the clothing you make.

This philosophy is the heart of my business and my design practice. A few years ago, I was invited to give a TEDx talk to share the research and ideas I've been developing for over a decade.
In the talk, I explore our modern relationship with clothing and how the simple, powerful act of making our own garments can be a revolutionary form of customization and sustainability. This is the core belief that informs every class I teach. We aren't just sewing; we are creating clothing that is meaningful to us.
“The Fair Fit Method was born from a simple belief: that anyone can learn to create beautiful, well-fitting garments when guided by a clear, foundational process. For years, I saw passionate makers frustrated by confusing patterns and disappointing results. They were missing the ‘why’ behind the ‘how.’ I developed this method to bridge that gap—to empower creators with the core principles of design, drape, and structure. It’s an approach that honors the heritage of craftsmanship while celebrating your unique creative voice.” – Andrea, Founder
